“La Donna Cannone” is one of my favourite Italian songs but, above all, it is one of the most successful songs of the Italian songwriter Francesco De Gregori.
The song is about love: the story of a woman who rebels against society / her life / her job in a circus to chase love, but her story does not have a happy ending, as the lyrics suggest.
The choice of the words is very accurate and touching, making this song a-must-listen for many Italians, and for more than one generation.
